Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 3, 2026
MerryGo is a family memory app. Parents, guardians, teachers, and caregivers use it to keep and privately share the memories of the children they care for. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we do not, and the choices you have. We've tried to write it for parents, not lawyers.
The short version
- Your family's memories are yours. We don't claim ownership of your content.
- Your original photos and videos live in your own photo library. MerryGo does not permanently store your original photos or videos.
- When you share a memory, we temporarily relay the original photos and videos through our servers so the people you invited can receive and save them — then the original files are removed from our servers.
- We keep the minimum information needed to organize and sync your memories, and to restore your journal information, plus a small preview of each photo.
- We don't sell your data, don't show ads, don't build advertising profiles, don't embed third-party trackers, and don't use your family's content to train AI.
Your memories are yours
The memories you create in MerryGo — your photos, videos, words, and the way you arrange them — belong to you. MerryGo does not claim ownership of your content, and nothing in this Privacy Policy transfers ownership of your content to MerryGo. We process it only to provide the service: to let you share memories with the family members you invite, to sync your memories across your own devices, and to help you restore your journal information. Your family's memories remain yours.
Built for families, shared privately
MerryGo is designed for adults. Accounts are created and managed by parents, guardians, teachers, daycare administrators, and other authorized caregivers. Children are the subjects of the memories, not the operators of accounts. Accounts are intended for adults; we do not knowingly create accounts for children or knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
Sharing is private, by design. Memories are shared only when you choose to share them, and only with the specific people invited to a journal. MerryGo has no public profiles, no public feeds, no discovery, and no recommendation algorithms that surface your family's content to strangers. What you share goes only to the people you choose — nothing is public. When you add a memory to a journal that already has invited members, that memory is delivered to those members as part of the journal; you do not need to repeat a separate share step.
Children's memories are never monetized. We do not show advertising, do not build advertising or behavioral profiles, and do not use children's memories — or any user content — to train AI.
Sharing on behalf of an organization. If you share memories on behalf of a school, daycare, or other organization, you should ensure you have any permissions required by that organization or applicable law.
We believe family memories deserve to be preserved privately, shared intentionally, and treated with respect. MerryGo is designed to help families keep those memories — not to turn them into public content.
Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in, we collect your email address to create and secure your account.
Content you create. Memories you create or receive include titles, text, tags, dates, and media (photos/videos). We retain the memory's structure and metadata, and a small preview of each photo — a reduced-size version used only to organize and display your memories inside MerryGo, not the full-resolution original. When you share a memory, the full-resolution original is stored temporarily on our relay servers for the limited period described in "How long we keep things," then removed.
Service and security information. Our systems may process limited technical information needed to operate and secure the Service, such as IP address, request time, app version, and error or abuse-prevention records. We do not use this information for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Subscription information. If you subscribe, Apple processes the purchase. We receive confirmation that a given journal's subscription is active and its renewal date; we do not receive your payment card details.
How we use information
We use information to provide the app: to create memories, share them with the family members you invite, sync across your own devices, operate per-journal subscriptions, and secure accounts and prevent abuse. We do not use your content for advertising, and we do not use your family's photos, videos, or text to train AI models or send them to third-party AI services.
How we protect information
Privacy and security are considered throughout the design of MerryGo, not added as an afterthought. We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Connections between your device and our servers use encryption while information is in transit. We apply access controls and least-privilege access to our systems, and we monitor for security issues. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information with reasonable safeguards.
How long we keep things
- Shared original media: kept only for the limited relay period required to deliver shared memories (currently up to 7 days), then removed from our relay servers.
- Memory structure, metadata, and previews: retained while your account is active so we can organize, sync, and restore your journal information.
- Your originals remain in your own photo library, independent of MerryGo; we don't control or delete them.
Who we work with
We share information only with the service providers needed to run MerryGo, and only as needed to provide the service. By category, these are:
- Apple — subscription processing and platform services.
- Our cloud hosting provider — runs our servers and the temporary relay.
- Our email delivery provider — sends your sign-in codes.
We require service providers that process information for MerryGo to protect it consistently with this policy and to use it only for the services they provide to us. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your content with advertisers. (We disclose providers by category; the specific providers may change over time, but the categories and purposes above reflect how MerryGo actually operates.)
Diagnostics
MerryGo does not embed third-party advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting tools. If you choose to share crash or performance information with developers in your device settings, Apple may provide diagnostic information according to your Apple device settings and Apple's services — this is controlled by you through Apple, not collected by MerryGo directly.
Your choices and rights
- You control what you share and with whom.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data at privacy@getmerrygo.com.
- Deleting your account removes account data and content associated with it, except information we must retain by law and durable copies that another person previously chose to save as their own.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable law. Contact us and we'll help you exercise them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the update here and revise the effective date above. We describe how MerryGo works today; if the product changes in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this policy to match.
Privacy is a product principle
Privacy is not just a legal policy for us — it is a product principle. MerryGo was designed to help families preserve memories, not to make them public.
